The process used to create Dropi Extra-Virgin Cod Liver Oil is inspired by Iceland's rich and vibrant fishing culture. Each day fishermen aboard small vessels pull shimmering, fresh wild Icelandic cod (Gadus morhua) from the pristine waters off of the Northwest coast. These fishing grounds are special and unique; they have been carefully protected and are surrounded by an industrial-free zone to prevent pollution and contamination.
The line-fished cod are brought directly to a facility on shore, which is nestled by the harbor and just outside the local fish market. Here the cod liver oil is extracted immediately using a cold-press technique to ensure ultimate freshness. Because the oil is released quickly and at low-temperatures, it is considered both virgin and raw. Trace amounts of rosemary and natural vitamin E are added to the liquid as antioxidants to maximize shelf life before bottling. Q. Why is the oil cloudy when refrigerated?
A. Because Dropi is unrefined and unprocessed, it changes naturally when exposed to different conditions. When in cool temperatures, the oil may become cloudy or thicken due to the presence of natural stearin. This is a completely normal occurrence and does not mean that the oil is rancid.
Q. How should I store Dropi Cod Liver Oil Caps?
A. We recommend storing at room temperaure (59°F - 77°F). Do Not refrigerate.
