Flax Seeds are rich in omega-3 fatty acids and minerals like manganese, magnesium, phosphorous and selenium. They offer a slightly nutty flavor that lends itself well to smoothies. These whole seeds offer a slight crunch that is satisfying when sprinkled atop yogurt, oatmeal, salads and other dishes. These seeds have a high oil content, and although the oil is relatively stable while the seed is intact, refrigeration is recommended to slow the oxidation process and prolong the life of the seed.
