An Authentic Cod Liver Oil!

True to ancient roots, Blue Ice Fermented Cod Liver Oil is produced using traditional no-heat methods. In contrast to the harsh refinement processes used by many other fish oil manufacturers, this cod liver oil is gently small-batch handled through a proprietary fermentation technique. This delicate process naturally maximizes nutrient bioavailability and reduces any contaminants in the food. The result is an extremely pure and nutritious high vitamin cod liver oil that rivals those of past generations.

This oil is a rich source of vitamins A and D, both of which are not easily obtained at optimal levels with our modern diets and lifestyles. Additionally, Fermented Cod Liver Oil offers a hearty supply of the essential fatty acids EPA and DHA, otherwise known as the "Omega 3s." This oil is thick and rich, full of synergistic, naturally occurring nutrients. No synthetic compounds of any kind are added.

According to the research of Dr. Weston A. Price, cod liver oil and butter oil, when taken together, provide complementary factors leading to proper essential fatty acid balance. High-vitamin butter oil contains arachidonic acid (AA), an omega-6 fatty acid, while cod liver oil is rich in eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), an omega-3. Moreover, the saturated fatty acids in the butter oil promote efficient utilization of the unsaturated fatty acids in the cod liver oil. Finally, butter oil contains a broad and deep range of important quinones including vitamin K, E and CoQ enzymes while cod liver oil is rich in vitamin A and D. For more information visit our pages on High Vitamin Butter Oil and Fermented Cod Liver Oil/ High Vitamin Butter Oil Blends.

*Please be aware that Fermented Cod Liver Oil has a very strong taste and that the natural enzyme content will sometimes result in a tingling sensation at the back of the throat. See the Product & Flavor Descriptions below before ordering.

There are a lot of different choices when it comes to taking Fermented Cod Liver Oil! Below you will find descriptions and charts to help you decide on the best option for you and your family:

*Please note: The addition of natural flavors is meant to enhance the taste experience. However cod liver oil taste remains prevalent. We cannot accept returns based on flavor preferences.

Cinnamon Tingle Liquid - A favorite of many, this flavor includes natural cinnamon oil and organic stevia leaf

Arctic Mint Liquid - With its natural mint flavor, many find this cod liver oil a refreshing alternative. This flavor includes organic spearmint and peppermint oil, organic wintergreen flavor oil and organic lemon oil.

Oslo Orange Liquid - Includes organic orange oil and organic lemon oil.

Non-Gelatin Capsules - For those who prefer to take their cod liver oil in capsule form, this is simply fermented cod liver oil and unbleached beeswax as a thickener. Capsules are made from plant cellulose.

Non-Gelatin Capsules (Orange) - This is the same as the regular Non-Gelatin Capsules with the addition of organic orange oil.

*Please note: Green Pasture's Fermented Cod Liver Oil contains naturally occurring fat-soluble vitamins A and D. The concentration of these naturally occurring vitamins varies from batch to batch. Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Does your cod liver oil have all natural vitamins A, D and E? Are there any synthetic vitamins?

A.The vitamins in our cod liver oil are all naturally occurring. It is uncommon in the industry but our sources are one of the few remaining that maintain these natural standards. There are no synthetic vitamins added. Read The Fourfold Path To Healing and learn about the benefits of cod liver oil.

Q. How much fermented cod liver oil should I take?

A. Because fermented cod liver oil is overall more like a food than a supplement, people take a wide range of doses based on personal preference and need. Please see our post on Fermented Cod Liver Oil: How much should I take? for a more detailed explanation.

Q. Can I get too much vitamin D?

A. If you take cod liver oil in recommended amounts and eat a normal diet and have no liver problems, you shouldn't get too much vitamin D.

Q. Should I stop taking cod liver oil in the summer?

A. You can consider cutting down on cod liver oil during the summer months if you get out in the sun with few clothes on and no sunscreen during the middle of the day on a daily basis for 20 minutes or more. In other times of year in the US, the UV-B rays are diminished so vitamin D production happens much less robustly.

Q. Will I like the taste of cod liver oil?

A. Some of our customers tolerate our unflavored cod liver oil right from the spoon. It does have a very strong taste however, and others prefer the flavors we offer or they will mix cod liver oil with a small amount of water, milk, or juice. Alternatively, we offer cod liver oil in capsules. Please note that we are unable to accept returns on opened bottles.

Q. How does one dispense a 2 ml dose of the fermented cod liver oil?

A. Each bottle of fermented cod liver oil liquid comes with a calibrated syringe that fits into the bottle's plastic top. You are able to firmly insert the syringe into the top, invert the bottle and draw the desired dose into the syringe. Cod liver oil gels can be taken simply with a teaspoon.

Q. Is your fermented cod liver oil heated during processing? Are any solvents used?

A. No, fermented cod liver oil is not heated. It is goes though a non-heated lacto-fermentation process.

Q. Is it pure?

A. Yes, it contains only cod liver oil. Natural flavors and a small amounts of natural antioxidant are added to some of the oils.

Q. Is it "high vitamin cod liver oil?"

A. Yes. This oil comes from a certain species of cod fished during the seasons when the nutrients are at optimal density resulting in a nutrient content that is 2-5x greater density than other brands while maintaining the recommended ratio of Vitamin A to D.

Q. How should the fermented cod liver oil be stored? What is its shelf life?

A. Fermented cod liver oil is best stored in the refrigerator or a cool dark place after opening. The oil may cloud or solidify if refrigerated for extended periods of time. This does not harm the product, but will change the texture. Both sealed and opened cod liver oil will remain stable for up to 2 years if properly stored.

Q. Can I take fermented cod liver oil if I have a seafood allergy?

A. If you or a family member suspects a food allergy, please consult your physician before using any and all fish oil/cod liver oil products. There are discussions indicating that those with shellfish allergies should avoid cod liver oil and any other product derived from the sea.

Q. Is the cod liver oil tested for heavy metals, toxins and radiation?

A. Every lot is tested for PCB's, metals etc... And every small run is tested three times for pathogens (standard food screens). Biofeedback methods are used to screen for radiation. All testing is done by third party labs and per FDA regulations for food safety. The testing is beyond what you will typically find within the food industry and products meet these strict

I had been waiting for Radiant Life to start carrying the blue ice fermented CLO. It really is great stuff. We always get the kind that is unflavored and no antioxidants which makes it especially wonderful for my daughter who has autism! Being fermented, it is also easier on the digestive system. Thanks!!

Wow! I can not say enough good things about this cod liver oil. I use to buy the Quantum brand but since they no longer produce cod liver oil, I had to buy Green Pastures brand instead. I LOVE the syringe/dropper that comes with the bottle, making each serving exact and easy to shoot into the mouth. I bought the cinnamon flavor and I am AMAZED by the yummy taste. My hubby who gags on regular cod liver oil likes it too. I highly recommend Green Pastures Cod Liver...you will be so impressed!

I just want to say this stuff is great! I am so glad there is still a company offering natural fermented cod liver oil. I love the cinnamon flavor; it makes it so much easier to take. My only criticism is the orange flavor is awful! It does not have much of an orange flavor and is bitter without covering the fishy taste. We thought we would try something new and we can hardly choke it down! We will be sticking with the great cinnamon flavor from now on! Thanks!

Like a couple other reviewers I would also recommend the Cinnamon flavor cod liver oil. I remember my mother trying to get me to take a mint flavored CLO as a child- YUCK! The Cinnamon Tingle is, in one word, AWESOME. I am VERY impressed and happy with it. My first time trying and buying, without a doubt I will be recommending it to all of my friends and family!

I have been taking this for about a 2-3 weeks and I must say I think its pretty amazing. I was skeptical as I am with all vitamin products, but I am keeping this in my routine for sure. I have awful cramps 3 weeks out of the month and after taking this for a couple weeks, it has stopped!

Cleared up my skin after 2-3 weeks of taking the recommended dosing of the liquid. Helped with some existing acne scarring and some skin redness on face and arms. Also feel a lot better with morning stiffness. Didn't taste too bad either! Glad you offer such a great product.

This fermented cod liver oil has completely cleared cystic, hormonal acne. It is indeed a blessing. If a pimple does show up, it's small and clears quickly. Also, scarring is minimal. Give it a try if cystic acne is a problem; you will be amazed.

Picky 9 year old LOVES THIS!

Ok so Cinnamon Tingle is awesome. I just started having my 9 year old take this. She is stubborn and will NOT take any form of medicine that is remotely close to liquid. So with this I read a fun trick and it worked! She loves the flavor and here is the trick. Put the FCLO in the fridge, It will become more solid. Then get a butter knife and put about a half a teaspoon or what ever amount you are using on the end of the butter knife. THEN using your front teeth nicely scrape the FCLO in your mouth and swallow it with Apple juice. I can't wait to see how this helps her out!

My family started taking the cinnamon tingle product and butter oil about 2 years ago. I have never had any problems getting my then 1 1/2 year old and 6 month old to take this product, they chase it with milk and it's never seemed to bother them! I don't mind it either, I have never had a problem with burping up fishy tastes and can definitely tell when I need to be more disciplined in taking it every day!
